About

The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association had a very humble beginning. Believers interested in evangelistic and intercessory activities used to assemble periodically for prayer and fellowship. In 1924, the late Metropolitan, Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma, took the initiative and leadership in forming an organisation among these believers. Later, the activities were extended to different parish levels, and the unit of organisation established was named the “Edavaka Mission”.

The Carmel Mar Thoma Church Edavaka Mission unit was established in 2010 and functions as a strong body in Christ’s service. Members follow seven steps in our mission — Bible study, intercessory prayer, sharing experience, serving the sick, prayer group activities, house visits and evangelism. Carmel Mar Thoma Church Edavaka Mission carries on the work of the Evangelists’ Association by organising meetings at the residence of parish members every first Friday of the month at 7:00pm.

2025–26 Highlights

Our monthly prayer meetings continued to be a great source of spiritual nourishment and fellowship, with an in-depth Bible study on 1 and 2 Corinthians reflecting on the teachings of St. Paul.

Edavaka Mission Day was celebrated on 9th November, with members taking on leadership responsibilities during the service. The sermon was delivered by Dr. V. S. Varghese on the theme ‘The Church is One Body in Christ’. The Mission also led the singing session, Bible lesson reading, and intercessory prayers during the Annual Convention 2025.

Charity — Punalur Mar Thoma Boys’ Home: through the generosity of our members and well-wishers, we raised a total of £2,080 in support of the Boys’ Home project, of which ₹261,000 was transferred to Punalur.
